What the wind brings

During this lesson, students will have the opportunity to build their own model of a wind turbine, experiment with its operation and see how wind can power electrical appliances. They will learn about the concept of an electrical load, its functions and examples of applications in everyday life. At the end of the lesson, students will consolidate their acquired knowledge of renewable energy sources by taking part in an interactive multimedia quiz that will sum up the topics discussed.

After the lesson, students should know the answers to the following questions:

What are the main sources of energy and how do we divide them into renewable and non-renewable?

How does a wind turbine work and what components are necessary for its construction?

What is an electrical load and what devices can play such role?

What changes in the landscape can wind turbines cause?

How can the area around the wind turbine be made more useful?
