Debate on Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in Prudnik
News / Debate on Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in Prudnik
Public Primary School No. 4 named after Maria Konopnicka in Prudnik, a winner of the first edition of the “Clean Power of Energy” Grant Program, has summarized the implementation of the project “Future Energy – Students for the Climate.”
Project Finale
On May 20, an Oxford-style debate was held at the school in Prudnik under the theme: “Renewable energy sources are the only viable path to ensuring the world’s energy security”. The event marked the culmination of several months of activities dedicated to renewable energy sources (RES) and environmental protection.
The school auditorium became a space for a substantive discussion about the future of energy. Well-prepared seventh-grade students, divided into proposition and opposition teams, faced each other in an Oxford-style debate — held for the first time in the school’s history. The students analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy sources such as hydropower, solar, and wind energy, presenting their arguments in a mature and well-reasoned manner.
The students themselves emphasized that participation in the project and the debate brought them many benefits. Among the most frequently mentioned were:
gaining reliable knowledge about renewable energy sources,
developing skills in argumentation and public speaking,
gaining a better understanding of both the advantages and disadvantages of green energy,
the opportunity to collaborate, integrate, and debunk myths related to renewable energy sources (RES).
Recognition of the students’ extensive knowledge was expressed by Paweł Klimczak, energy advisor representing the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Opole. High praise for the project’s implementation and the course of the debate was also given by representatives of Respect Energy Holding — Katarzyna Teter and Natalia Jeziorska. The debate was held under the patronage of the Education Authority in Opole and under the media patronage of TVP 3 Opole.
Summary
We would like to extend special recognition to the students, who during the Oxford-style debate demonstrated impressive knowledge and the ability to conduct a substantive discussion on renewable energy sources.
