Playing with energy

Children will learn what energy is and that it surrounds us every day. They will learn about its various forms – heat, light, movement, and electricity – and learn to recognize them in their environment, e.g., in a lamp, radiator, or bicycle. They will also understand where energy comes from, learning about renewable sources such as the sun, wind, water, and wood, as well as non-renewable sources such as coal, oil, and gas. They will realize that using renewable energy sources is better for our planet. They will also learn what power plants are and what types there are, and will connect specific energy sources with the appropriate places where they are produced. During physical activities and art work – creating their own windmill – children will experience how wind energy works and how it can be used. This will help them develop their observation skills and ability to classify, and they will understand that energy is essential for many things that make our daily lives easier.

After the lesson, students should know the answers to the following questions:

1

What energy source does a coal-fired power plant use?

2

What do we need energy for in our everyday lives?

3

Where in the classroom or at home can you see different forms of energy?

4

How does the windmill we made in class work?

5

Why is it important to save energy and care for the environment?

6

Co to jest elektrownia i jakie są jej rodzaje?

7

Jakie źródła wykorzystują: elektrownia wiatrowa, wodna i węglowa?

8

Do czego potrzebujemy energii i dlaczego warto ją oszczędzać?

Do you need a certificate?
